November 16 Carl and I hiked up MtShaw in the Ossipee range, and hit an amazing overlook called Black Snout. Beautiful views from both MtShaw vistas!! Saw our first snowflakes of the season. Beautiful waterfalls, too.
November 2nd, Dave D. John and Andrew winch out the dock. The summer is officially over when those dock legs come out of the water. A great season!
oct 26 - house is tarped up - 3 layers of tarps, secured with strapping and screws. Carl commented that it has been smurfed!
oct 20 - we hoped to close today, but it looks like we will need to come up one more day next weekend. Roofs are tough! We got all of the plywood installed on the roof, 1 tarp is on for now, one gable wall framed. Plywood installation up there was very slow going, indeed!
oct 18 it is chilly up here.. got more roof sheathing on today. Brought over another load of lumber. Cooking up some vittles presently(724pm).
oct 12 - rafters and lookout rafters installed. Very difficult to install the overhanging lookouts. Carl and Dad helped a lot - roof sheathing almost half done on one side. Carl had great ideas pertaining to a crane that helped to get the plywood up about 30 feet, onto the roof. Another trip of hard work by all parties....But the house is getting there!
oct 7 - just got home, too windy to come home last night. only 2 rafters, plus lookout rafters left to do. it has a big blue tarp on it. things are dry!!
oct 6 (note, i will post pictures tonight.. typing while the coffee is brewing, after a lumber run....) half of the rafters are up, hope to complete them today and tarp up the top... Imagine -- something to keep the rain out! Cool Beans! At this point, all of the big wood for the house has been moved out. Picked up 6 or 7 times in the process. Remaining wood for this season includes 15 or 16 sheets of roof sheathing, then we will bring out shingles.Dad cut out all of the 2nd story window openings, the view is awesome.
Sept 30 Ridge Pole is up, first 2 rafters fitted. Last week we finished the remaining load bearing walls.
Sept 19th The last two days saw 3 walls go up! Last nights excitement was trying to get the boat to start to come home. Starter motor solenoid at fault.
Sept 14th Lots of materials moved Saturday, floor complete Sunday, 2nd floor wall laid out and started.
Sept 8th, despite rain from hurricane Hannah, stairs were added, 2nd floor joists completed, 2nd floor sheathing part way done. Technique for lifting 75lb flooring panels to the 2nd floor using a roller implemented.
Sept 1, movie showing trolley with 32 12 foot 2x10s, half of 2nd floor joists installed, interior bearing wall complete, lot of prep time.
Aug 27 4 walls are up! Help from Lori and Vickie in addition to Dad F.
Aug 21 Floor is completely sheathed with Avantech!
Aug 17 half of the floor framing is complete. A youth group from St. Pauls and our neighbors helped us to bring up 56 floor joists! That was AWESOME!
July 27 ALL girders installed ! 16 foot PT 2x12s very heavy and tough to get up the trolley, but we did it!
July 20 all of the 6 inch by 6inch verticle posts are installed... starting to look planar!
July 13 THE FINAL FOOTINGS ARE POURED. 19 ARE COMPLETE! HOORAY! APPROXIMATELY 150 BAGS OF CONCRETE, 19 BIG FOOT BASES, 76 SECTIONS OF REBAR! COOLBEANS!
July 7 Count is now 14 piers done out of 19.
June 29 dug some more, split more rocks, got out of there before more tstorms came through. Lots of rain during the night and early morning. The pics show it in the holes we dug!
June 28 brought up 40 bags( on the trailer still...) came out and dug, backfilled, dug, jackhammered a bunch of big rocks into gravel. Making progress! Weather grey but dry enough.
June 25 Three more holes done, huge rock moved. Computer back up.
June 22 WEBCAM and WX Station down due to computer keyboard getting wet from a leak during thunderstorm. Expected repair to be complete June 28.
June 21-22 - Dad and Andrew poured piers 7 and 8, and have 9 and 10 ready to pour.
June 16 - Dad, Carl, and Andrew continued digging, encountered bigger badder boulders, and broke some with the jack hammer. Slow going but good progress. Total cement bags brought to island ... 86.
June 10 - this past weekend John and Andrew did further mods to the trolley, raising the side-rails. It works almost flawlessly now. Also dug, dug, dug, jackhammered, drilled rebar holes, epoxied, and poured 4 more piers with a 5th ready for pouring. It was hot! Good exercise at the Island Health Club.
June 03 - This weekend Vickie,Joe, Lois, John and Norah came up! Highlights... water pump for cement is working, 32 bags of cement moved out, 2 footings complete, many more dug, holes drilled, rebar cut....! Great weekend!
May 26th - trolley side rollers added, water pump installed, needs different check valves, we dug and dug and dug, now working on the 9th hole. Vickie and John were up helping. Great weekend. Andrew went swimming twice. Water temp is 58F.
May 18th - trolley operational, water pump for cement tested!
May 11th - initial foundation pier locations marked, debris and logs moved from site. Vickie and Lois and John were up helping today! Norah and Jeff saw us on the webcam.
May 10th, Trolley Ramp, and Cart finished.
May 6th, it appears that power is out up there again.
May 3rd, spent a rainy day moving lumber, worked on trolley landing, organized shed, added new shelves, updated the web cam - weather server.
April 29, Rattlesnake power appears to be out...Or it is just at our place.
April 26th,2008, Andrew and Dad went up, put in dock, mooring ball, weather station and webcams! Great day on the lake!

March 22, 2008 Today Vickie was up in Alton, there is still a lot of snow. She took pictures of the island from Wolfeboro. Beautiful!
Note that the anemometer is normally about 16 feet above the water at the end of the dock. When the dock is out of the water it is somewhat sheltered by the trees to the WNW and ESE. The island itself shelters the wind readings from the East....
